Sunday Stills : Photoshop

OK, this is something I am not very familiar with..this is my original photo.
This is the photoshop version of colored pencil. OK..I might use it sometime..

Alrighty then, this is something I have always wanted to learn how to do, and THANKS! to Nivin at My Winks on Life 'n' light Reflections and his instructions I finally did it! I managed a layer, my very first!! I have a very old edition of Photoshop Elements 2, so not everything is exactly like Nivin explains it..but close enough for me to finally figure it out! Check out Sunday Stills for more Photoshop experiences ! Nivin you are a doll, I hope you continue to have more tutorials! :)

  1. I used PSE 3 for mine. I am not all about the newest upgrade though I finally did break down and buy CS4 this summer. I found the tools are in different places though, so I'm still really not comfortable with it yet.

  5. I'm with Shirley, it's just to bad I don't have the time (or $$$$) to justify buying PS right now. Maybe if I convince myself it will make me a happier, better, and more well rounded person I'll get it sooner than later!

  6. You are an inspiration. I'm right with you in wanting to learn how to do layers. Love your iris photo in black and white with the vivid yellow centers.

  7. Hooray on the first ever layer! You're now going to find yourself making layer after layer after layer...and the fun you will have!

  10. Ok, now I expect to see you layer one photo on top of another some of these days. The bottom photo is solid ant the second top layer is another picture only made transparent to look ghost-like. Good job. I read a photo book the other day where the professional photographer was creating all of his photos with special effects and he had no intention to have anything but computer altered photos. Long gone are those days when we had to use the photo lab and photo paper and burning to get special effects.

  12. Wow. Neat changes to the photos...I haven't tried anything fancy yet, as I don't own Photoshop but I am thinking of getting into it this winter. Do you have Photoshop Elements? I am thinking of getting that program. Any advice?

  13. You did good! I like your layering job, too. In Picnik, there isn't any layering, you just turn your photo Black and White, and then use the paint brush to color in the original color or choose any color you want. Very simple.

I love your original, by the way. I am also diggin' your header. Wonderful!

  14. Oh! And I forgot to tell you that the 'bubble' that my owl is in, isn;t actually a bubble, but it's supposed to be a Crystal Ball. One of the special effects and stickers, etc that Picnik offers for Halloween. Cool, eh?

  15. Thanks everyone for your comments..it was a fun challenge.
Retired one, I have and old 2002 Photoshop Elements 2 program. I have done very little with it..but now I can do layers..In this photo, you start with the original them add a black and white layer and then erase the black and white to reveal the color. I am not an expert on Photo editing programs..but for me Photoshop has been a bear to work with..I was tempted to take a class..but now Nivin is doing tutorials!! :)

  16. I love the Iris and these are interesting. So you used focal in the last? I did that recently. I think the second is pretty with the color. Have a great day-

  23. So Coooool! Love the last one :D Glad my tutorial was helpful! :D
I haven't used elements yet. Always sticked to photoshop, photoshop 7, 9, CS, CS2. But I think they all have the same features with different interface. Glad you worked that out ;) with your photoshop elements 2.
