Macro Monday: A Rose

I couldn't stand it anymore, I had to post a flower.  This is  Morden Rose 'Blush'  it is a Canadian rose and extremely hardy, my daughter has a whole row of them at her house.  I am always in charge of pruning them.  They seen to thrive on neglect and the rough play of two little boys and their friends.  The bud is pink, as it opens it fades to pale pink, and by the time it is fully open it is almost white.  I took this photo in June of 2009. Check out more macros here:)

  2. Gorgeous rose. One of my favorite flowers, although I am not very successful in raising them. My mother had a green thumb and raised several varieties. Whenever I see rose bushes I am reminded of her.

  3. Well ya sure don't have to ask to post a flower this time of year!!! And this one is a beautiful one...interesting how the colors change as the flower ages.

  7. Beautiful! I have one small Morden's shrub. It, too, thrives on neglect!

  12. Beautiful! I LOVE roses. I've grown many in my long life time, and still don't have any here! I'd better get busy and plant some this Spring. I did plant about 8-10 plants here when we moved here 4 yrs ago and they were all beautiful. Then hubby decided he wanted to make a separate round rose bed and move then all, so he did - into a bed of almost pure muschroom dirt!!! And, they all died. I was crying on the inside. I know he felt terrible.

  13. I have heard of this rose a lot on Garden Shows. P.Allen Smith uses them a lot in the south. It sounds like it has to be hardy coming from Canada. It looks a lot like the unknown rose of my mom's that I hoped to have saved. It is a beautiful rose, way to go with the macro.
