Macro Monday: Poop on a Branch

Welcome to Macro Monday.  This is Black Knot or Apiosporina  morbosa.  Or Poop on a branch.   It is a common fungal disease on Prunus species..Wild Plums, and Cherries mainly.   Now is the time to prune it out of your shrubs..prune 6 to 8 inches away from the knot.  It will eventually kill your shrub.   So you learned something new today about poop on a branch:)

  5. Well I am actually glad it isn't poop. I do see though one would want to prune it out of the trees.

  9. I certainly learnt something, but with my Chinese ancestry, I wonder if it is edible. The Chinese eat a lot of fungi.
