Sunday Stills: Weather or Not

This week the Sunday Stills Challenge was weather.

We had a dreary week in Minnesota.

Straight Lake at the Millpond.  Far Guy drove slow and I took this out the window.  There is no safe place to stop for this view.

Advection fog on the lake March23

More fog on the lake on Friday March 23.

The ice went out on the lake on March 24.  This is the  north end of the lake. Three miles from where the first photo was taken.  Yes that is green grass..unbelievable for March!

Sunday Stills Macro: Putzer

The neighbors got a new puppy.  He is an Australian Shepherd.  His name is Putzer.

Putzer

He smells just like a new puppy.  Chance met him and proceeded to ignore him.  Check out more macros here:)

Sunday Stills: Transitions

The challenge this week was transitions.

Minnesota is going from winter straight into summer with temperatures in the 60’s and 70’s almost unheard of for March.

Transitions at Shell Lake

One of my favorite places is Shell Lake.  The ice is melting there.

Quite by accident when I was out and about on Saturday there was some fog happening at Long Lake.

Transition Geese and Fog

This is called advection fog.  It is the horizontal movement of warm moist air over a cold surface.  I thought it was way cool.Transition from water to ice

I even caught the Canada Geese in transition..one in the water and one on the ice. Have a great week everyone:)

Sunday Stills: A Small Part of a Whole

The challenge this week was to take a photo of something and then take a photo of a smaller part of the whole.

Here is my attempt.

Trumpeter SWans March 10

Trumpeter Swans Two March 10

Trumpeter Swans foot

The Trumpeter Swans are feed daily by a kind old gentleman in town.  The swift current coming out of the lake keeps the river open all winter.  Have a good week everyone:)
