This is Tragopogon dubius or Goat's Beard, or Johnny -go-to-bed-at-noon. This wildflower only opens on sunny mornings and closes by noon. What we have here is a seed head, ready to disperse and an old seed head devoid of seeds. Thanks Ed for hosting Sunday Stills
