This was a tough challenge, I love barns and I like to photograph them. I have quite a collection, the hard part was deciding which ones to share.
I took this one this week, so as to keep current with how things look up here in Minnesota in April.
This one was taken back in October of 2009, near Pickerel Lake. I am curious about this barn, and I will just have to stop by and visit with these people someday and find out what is up with those windows in the barn..I have never seen anything like it before have you?
This barn is near Butler, Minnesota. This photo was taken back in September 2009. I love the tin roof and how it has such a wonderful patina. The flowers in the foreground are an added bonus.
This is our neighbors barn, it has great character. It is a barn that I remember from my childhood.
Barns are disappearing from our landscape, one by one they are becoming history. The barn in my header photo is also a neighbors barn, I have photographed that barn in all seasons. Check out more barns at Sunday Stills:)
Great barns. I do love the window gables in the roof. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, I'm no farmer, but I think the windows are for letting in the sun and heat to help in the drying of the hay..:-)
ReplyDeleteThose dormer windows do give the barn an air of elegance!
ReplyDeleteI love old and new barns. I love the tin roofs too.
ReplyDeleteI love old barn photos too...and especially the ones that are run down.
ReplyDeletethe last photo is rather errie, very cool :)
ReplyDeleteStopping by to say 'hello' and 'Wow' ~ you have some wonderful photos on your blog!
ReplyDeleteI'll be back for another visit soon!
can't wait to see more of the barns sometimes. I love the big Dutch barns!
ReplyDeleteYou're right! -- I haven't seen these (exc one I'm familiar with :) ) and I love them.... I always want to stop wherever we go and shoot pictures of barns....
ReplyDeleteI too love barns, and wish we had loads of money to referbish ours. Lets go for a ride one day here soon in search of great barns! I know where a couple of round ones are.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! The windows in that one barn are intriguing, aren't they? I wonder if they have an apartment or something in there....
ReplyDeleteConnie, I collect barns also. Can I say that I collect them? I know that they are not mine, LOL. But whenever I am near them, I make sure that I check them out to make sure they are still standing. One of my favorites fell down last winter with the huge snowfall. It kind of felt like a friend had left.
ReplyDeleteLove your shots.
Jen
That red barn is excellent!
ReplyDeleteYou've got some beauties in your neck of the woods. I love the last one!
ReplyDeleteLOVE them, the barn with the widows is awesome, they wouldnt be for heating the hay to dry...heating the hay would cause a fire (we farm so thats how I know that) ...my guess would be..NO IDEA! LOL maybe it has been turned into an apartment at one time, you'll HAVE to go ask them!!!! Let us know! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteGREAT...really great shots. I LOVE the home one...have always wanted to convert a barn to a home!!!
ReplyDeleteKK
I'm with you, in love with barns! Those are all great photos, and I'm thinking that the one with the windows may have been built with the thought in mind that someone would live in part of it... or maybe they were put in later.
