The
Sunday Stills Challenge this week was The Five Elements. I believe them to be Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. Our neighbors had a very old house on their property, it was no longer inhabited and could not be safely remodeled or saved..so it was used as a "Control Burn" that taught many Fireman about fire and how fire behaves..for some young Fireman it was their first experience in a burning building.
There is water in that red line that the Fireman on the left are advancing with.. but only four elements are visible.
Finally a spray of water can be seen... all five elements in one photo. These photos were taken on May 23, 2009 :)
great photos, the colours are so vivid :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice job. Nice to know it was a controlled burn.
ReplyDeleteIn a way it makes me sad to see a house burn, even though it was controlled, sort of how I felt when I knocked down walls in our house...but it gave you great opportunity here for great photography! Not everyday you get a chance to get so up so close and personal to something so mighty!

Very cool, glad the firefighters got some good experience, the next one may be for real..:-)
ReplyDeleteGood job on the elements! Fire is a hard one because of the fire bans everywhere.
ReplyDeleteGreat Job! The pics are showing all the elements, with so much colour & life in it! :D
ReplyDeleteGlad that was just a training section for the fire fighters!
Wow. Fire can be so scary. A few years ago, the neighbor's house across the street burst into flames and woke us up. Our bedroom walls were covered in flickering red. We watched horrified as their house burned for several hours. They escaped unhurt, but, in the morning, their house was nothing but a blackened skeleton. The stench of their burned house filled our noses for more than a week afterwards.
ReplyDeleteGood job in your photos, capturing all the elements.

ReplyDeleteI am too, glad that it was just a training! During the summer heat, brush fires is always a scare. Great photos and the first has a great fire effects.
ReplyDeleteWe too have controlled burns here for the dept. to practice on....I look forward to the next one to see if I can get any great photos like these. Good Job!
ReplyDeleteWow, what perfect pics for this challenge!
ReplyDeleteGreat job!!! All in one actually.
ReplyDeleteVery cool. Perfect submission.
ReplyDeletethere are days I'd like to do this to my house!
ReplyDeleteA clever choice to meet the challenge - but, also, what an amazing experience. There can't be many opportunities for fire officers to practice in this way!
