Blogger's Community Photo Challenge: Windows

I photographed this window in a old church that used to be part of our community.  It was donated to the Lake Itasca Region Pioneers Farmers Exhibit where it can be enjoyed and appreciated by many people.  It was originally  built in 1887 in the nearby community of Osage, Minnesota.
More windows can be viewed here:)

Bloggers Community Photo Challenge: A Photo Story

This is my entry for The Bloggers Community Photo Challenge. In 2004 Far Guy became the Native Orchid specialist at our greenhouse. ( Anything to make him stop growing sweetcorn in six packs! ) He researched them, and ordered some bare root native plants that were grown in a laboratory here in Minnesota. Tissue Culture grown orchids. He applied for a permit from the State, and gained quite a following, they even featured him in several local newspapers. Native Orchids are hard to grow, but he had some success with the Yellow Ladyslipper or Cypripedium parviflorum. In the fall of 2004 he planted some in one of our display gardens. I was unsure of what the results would be.
Low and behold on May 13, 2005 we had a fuzzy bud, but just one.

On May 27, 2005 we had just one bloom.

May 27, 2006 we had two blooms!! In 2007, I missed their blooms completely..it is called being a good grandma!

June 08, 2008 we had six blooms!!

I took this photo on May 14, 2009 and I counted seven fuzzy buds (one is really tiny)..so maybe this year we will have seven blooms..we just will have to wait and see:)

Bloggers Community Photo Challenge: The Great Outdoors

This is my entry in The Blogger's Community Photo Challenge: The Great Outdoors. Here in Minnesota we are still in early spring. This little creek is finally showing some green, there is still snow in the ditches where it is shady. Spring comes slow..so we must be patient! :)

Bloggers Community Photo Challenge : Spring

This is my entry for The Bloggers Community Photo Challenge: First Sign of Spring. I had to look real hard but then some snow melted and the dumb Daylilies started to poke up out of their leaf duff. They will be frozen many times yet.. but they will still bloom next July. I took this photograph this afternoon April 07, 2009 and if you couldn't tell by the snow..I live in Minnesota..where spring has not quite sprung yet :) Click on the photo to enlarge it!

Bloggers Community Photo Challenge: Christmas Ornaments

This is my entry for The Blogger's Community Photo Challenge. It is a favorite of mine, it was a gift from my daughter Jen a few years ago. Tiny oblong slices of wood are laid one by one on this ornament. I find the texture very interesting:)

Blogger's Community Photo Challenge: Autumn

I have lots of tree photographs.. I especially like this one! To the best of my knowledge it is a Acer rubrum or more commonly known as a Red Maple. Red Maples run the range of fall color running from an orange/yellow to orange to red. Seeds from the same tree can grow up to be different shades of orange. Seedling selection..a fascinating subject!

This is a Blogger's Community Photo Challenge entry.. I am anxious to view the other entries beginning November 7th, 2008 :)
