The Sunday Stills challenge was fruit. I went to my archives for this one.
A Crabapple tree, ( Malus species) with some crabapples, you can preserve these..in some kind of sweet brine.. we called them candied crabapples..my Grandmother served them at Thanksgiving and Christmas. You can also cook them up and use the juice to make jelly. Typically birds eat them, especially the small ones..Crabapples vary in size from the size of a marble to the size of a golf ball. I took this photo at our daughters house in September of 2009.
Another good bird food is these chokecherries, ( Prunus virginiana). You can cook up these berries and use the juice to make Chokecherry Jelly. If you eat one of these berries before they are ripe, they are very unpleasant and sour..hence the name Chokecherry. I took this photo in our yard in September of 2009.
I used to make jars of jelly from both of these fruits years ago..and then I gave them away at Christmas time:)

Macro Monday: Crabapples
These are Crabapples, they are smaller than a golf ball and you can pickle them or cook them up and strain off the juice and make Crabapple Jelly. These were in my daughters back yard in August of 2009. Ed suggested that we start off a fruity Sunday Stills week with a fruity macro..good thing I could go to my archives! Check out what everyone else came up with here:)
