Sunday Stills: Wildflowers

The Sundays Stills Challenge this week was wildflowers! Wildflowers are my favorite thing to photograph, so I was delighted with this challenge, thanks ED! I decided to show you just four of my favorites. All are native to Minnesota, all are beautiful , I hope you enjoy them!

Minnesota's State Flower the Showy Lady's Slipper or Cypripedium reginae, she starts blooming around June 20, and is still blooming. These are about 10 miles from our home.

The Yellow Lady's Slipper or Cypripedium parviflorum, she blooms around June 20, and is still blooming. I can walk to this one as she is found along our back driveway. This year there were five blooms! That may not seem like many, but that is two more than she had last year!

Blue Flag Iris or Iris versicolor, this is along a stream about two miles from our home.
Indian Paintbrush or Castilleja coccinea. He is a little more difficult to find, we had to go further away to find a good stand of these, about twenty miles. He was well worth the trip! :)

  4. The Lady Slippers are lovely, and the Indian Paintbrush makes me a little homesick for Texas. :) It always bloomed along with the Blue Bonnets in April.

  11. I love the lady slippers but the blue flag iris is something that I've grown in my flowerbed here and can't imagine it growing in the wild.

  20. Love Indian Paintbrush but I'm a little partial due to living in Texas. The other flowers are so different, never seen anything like them before!
