The Sunday Stills Challenge this week was birds. What fun for me! It was a great excuse to go down to the river in town that is keep open by a stiff current. It is a place where Swans, Ducks and Canada Geese gather for the entire winter. They are fed daily by a fellow named Pete.
It was late in the afternoon before we got there on Friday January 20, 2012.
You can see the riverbank and how close I was to the open water.
It is pure heaven to have so many subjects! The pure white mature Trumpeter Swans are full grown. The Cygnets with grey are this years hatch, they will molt in the spring and their new feathers will be snowy white. They will have passed into adulthood.
One Trumpeter Swan was very interested in me!
If I had been really daring I would have laid on the river bank to get this shot..but the size of the Swans made me think twice about that.
This was my favorite shot of the day. Have a good week everyone:)
Awesome photos !

ReplyDeleteGreat shots! I wouldn't have got eye level with him either.....I got chased by a small goose once and that was nasty enough for a lifetime.
