Sunday Stills: Favorite Photo of 2011

The challenge this week was to pick one of your photos as your favorite for 2011.

Big drumroll… I picked this one because this moment was over very fast. In it I captured the gentleness of my husband and his faithful companion who enjoys everything his master does.

Dragonfly with wet wings July 03 2011

Dragonflies cannot fly with wet wings..this one was rescued from the water.  After this photo he was put on a branch to dry off and to fly away.   The photo speaks to that is why I chose it.

In 2012 I will just keep on keeping on.  Taking and deleting lots of photos.  I have thoughts of purchasing a new camera..I am undecided.   Canon has a G12 that Ed says is really a great camera.

I will be looking for wildlife and flowers, sunsets and rainbows..and everything else in between!

Happy New Year everyone:)

  1. Such a delicate creature, although such a fierce predator, too. Wonderful capture of a special moment.
I like your header photo, too.

Happiest of New Years to you this year!

  2. The photo does speak to the viewer! Great pick, Connie! Hope you and all of yours have a wonderful 2012. I will be stopping by and visiting daily.

  3. Absolutely love this photo. Our dogs would have been something like "Oh, let me help! *crunch*"

I agree with Ed, the G12 is a great little camera. I'm not sure how attached you are to long zoom, but you may want to look into some of Canon's SX models. The G12 has RAW shooting capabilities going for it, but it's continuous drive (for firing off a series of photos in quick succession) is relatively slow: 1.1 shots per second.

Here is a side by side comparison of the G12 and Canon's newest SX model, the SX40:

If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them :)

  4. You picked a great photo. With all the good ones you have taken, it would have been difficult to come up with one favorite. Your description of the pic makes it even prettier.

  5. I enjoyed reviewing all your favorite photos. The dragonfly is a special shot for sure.

  6. Love this shot, its perfection..:-)

  7. It is a wonderful shot. Happy New Year!

  8. What a spectacular timed shot! Wow !

I love your comments! I am glad you stopped by! Connie
