The Sunday Stills Challenge this week is Canine Companions.
This is our Border Collie “Chance” he is 6 1/2 years old. We got him when he was an eight week old pup. We just went to “look”..and one little pup just walked right up to my husband and sat by his feet. My husband picked him up..and never put him down. My husband always wanted a Border Collie..they are best friends. We hardly ever leave Chance alone, he goes with us everywhere. He is very spoiled. He is very friendly and he loves people..especially children.
Chance loves to play ball. Border Collies must have jobs..Chance’s job is to play ball many times a day and to keep squirrels and chipmunks out of the bird feeders.
I took these photos of Chance on Saturday March 19, 2011 during one of many daily ball playing activities. He is very photogenic and I have many more photographs of him than either of my children. Yes, we still have snow. Some areas of the yard are muddy..but we still have plenty of places to play ball without getting muddy.
Some places in the yard are melting..Chance loves the ice cold water.
My husband and I have always had dogs, we both grew up with dogs. Before we got Chance we were dog-less for three years. We took the death of our last Sheltie “Captain” very hard and neither of us knew if we wanted to go through that again. ..that has been the only time in our lives that we have not had a dog. Chance has been a wonderful addition to our lives:)
he's very cute! i really like your last photo
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Chance is quite photogenic. It sounds like he brings a lot to the table and gets it back many times over.
ReplyDeleteI sure do enjoy all that you share about Chance on the blog. He is so handsome and you have so many great photos. He's a faithful companion to you both and I know he makes you both smile throughout the day. The last photo with his reflection might be the best ever!

Fun pictures. Very happy dog who has trained his people well.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the puddle shot!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what it takes to keep such a handsome dog un-muddy? Lots of hours of fun brushing, I'm sure! Awesome shots, I get tired just looking at him!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, I do think its true that we don't pick out pets, they pick us..:-)))
ReplyDeleteYour Chance is such a handsome dog, I love his long hair, and he looks so clean! Mine are all muddy now.
ReplyDeleteWhen Tess had her litter last year, most of the pups picked their people.
Wonderful photos of Chance...he a beauty...how sweet that he picked his human?
ReplyDeleteOh yes. I can totally relate. We had to put down both of our previous dogs (my hubby's and mine) within a few months due to old age issues.
ReplyDeleteIt was heart wrenching for both of us and it took us over 10 years to consider bringing another dog into our lives.
But I'm so glad we did. It was perfect timing 3 years ago, too.
Your Chance is gorgeous! We've only had two good snowfalls all winter and no rain since last summer. Your photos look so refreshing to me.
Nicely done.

ReplyDeleteI just stumbled across this post.
ReplyDeleteChance is really pretty! Love the first picture...sniffing the wind. :) Dogs are so great. I don't think any house is complete without at least one. They add so much to your life and they are such good friends!
Chance sounds like a wonderful dog! I love his reflection photo!
